In the first course of my bachelor’s at university, I found digital marketing to be a bridge between mathematics and communication. It is also a great way to explore many professions. You can dive into from copywriting, content creation, video production to advertising, search engine marketing or even web/app development, data analysis etc. And there are also new directions like AI marketing and machine learning in each field.
For me digital marketing is equally spaced from 10-15 different professions. When you are a beginner, you can gain general knowledge of each part and then explore your strengths, focusing on 2-3 closely related areas. It is always better to become a top expert in a very small profession than to be average in a very broad one.
After becoming an expert in a specific profession, you can zoom out and become a generalist, gaining experience in other areas of digital marketing and even learning about new fields like legal, finance, IT, etc. For example, my personal interests have always been on the technical side, but now I am trying to be a generalist. I aim to learn everything about management, as well as create digital projects while supervising my team, colleagues and managing processes.
Once you have your learning path identified, you can stick with it and commit. I now find all online course platforms very valuable. They are the shortest way to gain knowledge in various professions and skills. And what i learnt is – It’s not about intensity, it’s about consistency.
